  • Opening statement
  • What he looks like
  • What makes him special
  • What he does
  • Closing statement

Johanri
I need my daddy and I need him not matter what.

He has eyes as green as grass. Also brown hair like chocolate ice cream. He always wears neat clothes and he has just the right sized lips.

My dad is a very special person because every time I struggle at something, he is the one that would help me in subjects, sports or anything. Like a great daddy he would support me in anything.

My daddy works at Reremoana School. He got to choose where he works and he chose our school. He teachers Year 7 and 8.

I love my daddy. Even if I had a choice to get all of the money in the world I would choose my daddy.

Carl
My father is really special in my life.

My dad has blue eyes like the sea. his eye brows are the colour of dark chocolate. He is very tall. It feels like he can touch the ceiling. His hair is grey like sharks skin.

My dad is special because he helps me with school projects. He also helps cook dibber when my mum is not home. My dad encourages me in sport when no other people in my family are there.

My dad plays heaps of sport with me in the park. He teaches me more soccer skills too. He also keeps me entertained

Nick
My dad used to have black hair but he wanted to shave it off. He looks better bold. My dad has tan skin. When he was little he looked like me. His eyes are as brown as mine.

When I’m board dad plays with me or we watch a movie (we usually watch Transformers). My dad makes me yum stuff like pancakes. My dad is friendly and really nice. He once saved my life because when I was about one I was little on the sand and a big wave came. If he didn’t grab me I would have got wiped out and drowned.

y dad works for Remax and he’s the boss. He works with my aunty and they sell houses. He helps people by doing nice things for them. He works really hard to get money for his work.

My dad is special because he does everything nice.

In Room 7 this term we completed a unit about the Olympics. We learnt about the olympic rings and what they mean and the olympic values and how we can use them to be good citizens.
We used compasses to draw the olympic rings. This was very challenging.

We made Google logos. The letters had to represent things from the Olympics.

We also completed research about a country and their athletes and presented it to the class.

Story Lines-Meet the Authors and Illustrators

22/8/12

Yesterday, years 4,5 and 6 went to Story lines- meet the authors and illustrators. Our class made out of year 4's and 5's were one of the classes that went to this special occasion. We met : Nic Bishop, Zak Waipara, Feana Tua'koi and Tim Tipene. These authors and illustrators are New Zealand famous for their passionate work of arts. These mixed, non-fiction and fiction stories become connected with children's minds.

At the occasion, we learnt facts about animals and about the authors childhood and adulthood.

The 4 classes that went to the occasion were Rm's:7,8,3,4 and 12. The year 3's out of Rm 3 and 4 sadly did not go the occasion. The venue was interesting because it gave us the enthusiasm to listen to these amazing authors and illustrators. This event made a huge difference to us and our minds.

Tell us your thoughts about the day.

MINI OLYMPICS

                                                        MINI OLYMPICS
Room 8 organised a mini olympics for the Tui Team. This was to complete our unit about the Olympics.

We thought that the Mini Olympics was fun and hard at the same time. We did six events, Javelin throw (with bamboo), marshmallow race, tennis soccer, longest kick, tennis shot put and Marble target. You earned points for each event. At the end of the six events we added up  all our points to get the a total. If the total was 100 points you achieved a bronze medal, if you got 200 points you earned a silver medal and if you earned 300 and over you were awarded a gold medal.
You should try hard to play a sport and play fair and have lots of fun!!!!

Buddy Games

It has been a very wet term so far and students have had to spend a number of lunchtimes inside. Room 7 had a conversation about the sensible things to do when it is a wet lunchtime. We came up with a number of things to do including board games.

Miss Clarke brought out some new board games for Room 7 to use and Room 7 thought it would be a good idea to make some games of our own so that there were more to play with.

We decided to make Checkers games and to make a set for our buddy class. We made them out of cardboard so that they were strong and would last. We made our own counters out of laminated paper.

On Friday our buddy class, Room 16, Came to our room for buddy celebration. We taught them how to play and gave them some of our games so that they can use them.

On Friday the 27th of July the whole school had a 'I wish I was ' mufti day. People were dressed as cops, dancers, superheroes, princess and much more!

All the students thought outside the box with their outstanding costumes.

Kids were having so much fun taking a look at all the wonderful costumes. Some students had amazing accessories such as, funky glasses, hats, shiny sashes and more. Students also had some pretty cool props like wigs, wands, handcuffs and shields.

Room 7's costumes were just awesome and pretty crazy!!!!! Lets say this mufti has been a huge success and we are looking forward to the next mufti day.
